The COVID-19 pandemic has become part of our daily lives. we remain vigilant and know how to protect ourselves from the coronavirus, which is still very useful.

“The best way to prevent disease is to avoid exposure to the virus.” You can take the following simple steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect yourself and others.

such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds, cleaning your hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissue

How to make your environment safer

  1. Maintain at least a 1-metre distance between yourself and others to reduce your risk of infection when they cough, sneeze or speak. Maintain an even greater distance between yourself and others when indoors. The further away, the better.
  2. Make wearing a mask a normal part of being around other people. The appropriate use, storage and cleaning or disposal are essential to make masks as effective as possible.
  3. When you take off a mask, store it in a clean plastic bag, and every day either wash it if it’s a fabric mask, or dispose of a medical mask in a trash bin.
  4. Closed, crowded or spaces involving close contact.

In a crowded and poorly ventilated space, infected people gather for a long time, and the risk of contracting COVID-19 is higher. In these environments, the virus seems to spread more effectively through respiratory droplets or aerosols, so it is more important to take preventive measures.

  1. Meet people outside. Outdoor gatherings are safer than indoor gatherings, especially when the indoor space is small and there is no outdoor air ingress.
  2. Avoid crowded or indoor environments, but if not, please take precautions:

Open a window. Increase the amount of “natural ventilation” indoors.

The basics of good hygiene:

  1. Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water
  2. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  4. Clean and disinfect surfaces frequently especially those which are regularly touch
  5. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, dry cough, and tiredness. Other symptoms that are less common and may affect some patients include loss of taste or smell, aches and pains, headache, sore throat, nasal congestion, red eyes, diarrhoea, or a skin rash, and call by telephone first, if you can and follow the directions of your local health authority.
