 Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy was originated in China. The cups stimulate the blood circulation as well as muss tension to support cells.

Basically involves placement of cups on the skin to generate suction for the flow of chi, as to what the Chinese call as the life force in the body.

People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

How does cupping work?

Suction from cupping draws fluid into the treated area. This suction force expands and breaks open tiny blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin. Your body treats the cupping area like an injury. It sends more blood to the area to stimulate the natural healing process. Some people theorize that cupping clears the pores and releases toxins.

How do I know cupping will work?

While there are some apprehensions toward cupping, there is real science behind it. The suction within the cups creates negative pressure, which helps to increase hydration and blood flow to body tissues, ease up adhesions, and eliminate excess fluids.

It is important to note that cupping is not a treatment method that will be performed on skin with wounds, infection, burns, or active inflammation.

It can sometimes create bruises on the skin that can last up to two weeks. Bruises typically resolve themselves with time and should not be of concern.

Side effects may include dizziness, nausea, sweating etc.  This therapy is not recommended for children, pregnant, elderly, menstruating or anyone having an organ disorder.

You can try even natural cupping therapy which was in use earlier where cups were made of bamboo, earthenware, glass or silicone. So eliminate all your weaknesses and stimulate your nervous system for a fitter you, through cupping therapy.

Cupping tips

  1. Cupping is recommended for five to fifteen minutes at a time, not too long, too long may cause sequelae such as bruises, blisters, ulcers, tissue necrosis, etc.
  2. It is recommended not to cup cupping too frequently. As for how often it is counted, there is currently no accepted saying. Most of it depends on the physical condition of each person, so please ask your Chinese physician, therapist, massage practitioner, etc.
  3. For cupping, choose areas with full muscles and no hair, such as shoulder blades, waist, back, abdomen, etc. The posture should be comfortable when cupping, the common ones are sitting, lying down, lying on your side or lying on your stomach. At the same time, the technique of cupping should be light, and it needs to avoid places with dense blood vessels or lymphatic vessels such as the heart, underarms, and groin.
